Yorkshire Trike Tours

Information & Tickets – 23 minutes from 42 The Calls

With their motto ‘fill your life with experiences not things’ – we can safely say that this is an experience you will not forget; as you don your leathers and embark on a tour of the Yorkshire Dales via a ‘Billy Connolly’ inspired motor trike.

With no fewer than 30 different routes; Yorkshire Trike Tours allow you to inhale storybook scenery with the wind in your hair amid fresh Yorkshire air, as you bomb around the winding roads of God’s Own County.

On top of the exhilaration of being chauffeured around in a powerful motor trike; owner, driver and trike enthusiast, Jason Richards, is also on hand to serve as your knowledgeable tour-guide. As you cruise the countryside you will be able to hear Jason through the helmet intercom, telling you all about interesting local facts, historical wars, ruined castles and amusing Yorkshire folk stories. Your helmet is also equipped with a microphone, should you want to ask any questions.

For their professionalism, enthusiasm, execution and all round derring-do; Yorkshire Trike Tours have swept the floor with a number of awards-bodies, boasting accolades from VisitEngland for Best Told Story and Jason was even voted Yorkshire Businessman of the Year 2017!

Skipton Boat Trips

Information & Tickets – 55 minutes from 42 The Calls

Although it’s not within the closest proximity to Leeds; the drive or train journey to Skipton is well worth it if you’re in the mood for some water-based exploration. There are a number of boat tours throughout Yorkshire, but the guided canal cruise with commentary from Phoenix Nights and 8 Out of 10 Cats legend Dave Spikey, provides for ‘the best 60 minutes of rib-tickling historic escapism you’ll find in Skipton’.

Northern patter abounds on this whistle-stop study of Skipton; which is refreshingly different and considerably more humorous than your typical guided tour. However, beyond the entertainment – insightful knowledge affords the opportunity to learn about the Leeds & Liverpool Canals’ intriguing history and its fundamental role in the development of the Industrial Revolution.

Skipton Boat Tours run throughout the day and are agreeable in all weathers; so set sail and prepare yourself for an entertaining, educational day of sightseeing from the comfort of a canal boat. An appetising lunch is also served on-board, should you need to replenish after all that excitement.

Heli-Jet Aviation

Information & Tickets – 26 minutes from 42 The Calls

If exploring Yorkshire by boat or motorised trike isn’t up your street; how about from the air as you soar 1500 feet high, travelling at speeds of 120mph on-board a Bell 206 LongRanger helicopter?

Yes well we agree, that does sound rather exhilarating. Heli-Jet Aviation are the authority on discovering Yorkshire from the sky and their Pleasure Flights provide the perfect platform from which to view the picturesque patchwork of the Yorkshire Dales.

Birdseye views of Yorkshire’s rolling Dales are also accompanied by unparalleled panoramas of Leeds’s iconic attractions – but if that’s not enough to quench your thirst for adrenaline; you can try your hand at flying a helicopter for yourself during a Trial Lesson. Charter Flights are also available for a tailor-made day in the clouds; although this is considerably more expensive than the very reasonable £49.50 you pay for a seat aboard a Pleasure Flight.

Goor’s Guided Tours

Information & Tickets – 3 minutes away from 42 The Calls

Kenneth Goor is Leeds personified… and this local legend, with his surplus of 30 years of experience as a tour-guide, is the go-to man if it’s an exploration of Leeds’s historic city centre that you require.

Typically departing from Leeds Parish Church or Leeds Corn Exchange, Kenneth runs 21 different guided tours around the city… but his most interesting is undoubtedly The Darker Side of Leeds – sharing his expert knowledge on Leeds’s grisly past; which Goor himself wrote about in his book Haunted Leeds.

Filled with beheadings, hangings, witches and ghosts; all of Kenneth’s stories are founded on some truths – making the tour all the more mysterious. Other guided tours include Royal Armouries to Thwaite Mills and Riverside: Victoria Bridge to Crown Point Bridge… and while these are maybe slightly less interesting, they are enjoyable and highly educational nonetheless. Such is Ken’s prestige as a tour-guide; that locals and tourists alike flock to Goor’s Guided Tours… and more oft than not, you can also enjoy a pint with Ken in one of Leeds’s historic taverns.

Along the River Aire Pub Tour

1 minute away from 42 The Calls

While this is an unofficial, unguided tour (we sort of just made it up) – a leisurely stroll along the River Aire is an excellent way to acquaint yourself with some of Leeds’s vibrant vicinities.

A good place to start is near Leeds Station’s new entrance, with real ale house The Hop. You can then make your way under the railway bridge to Mill Hill, where The Head of Steam and the craft beer/Indian street food connoisseurs Bundobust, reside. Neighbouring Boar Lane is the location of the brewpub Tapped and if you continue towards Lower Briggate, the numbering vicinities include The Hedonist Project and The Stone Roses Bar. After a spot of Fool’s Gold, carry on to Call Lane where you can enjoy a drink in the accompaniment of some salsa at Revolución De Cuba.

Without meaning to sound too much like Andy Dufresne, if you’ve come this far maybe you’re willing to come a little further… and across the bridge lies Sid’s Little Egg, which is your penultimate stop. Finally, head along Dock Street – with the optional detour down Navigation Walk – and conclude the River Aire Pub Tour at The Calls Landing… which is conveniently located approximately 30 seconds from 42 The Calls, should you be ready for a hearty feast from our delectable dinner menu. Or a bed.
